B A C K G R O U N D

The Saitou family is a prodigious part of Rokkaku's society, almost the equivalent of nobles in Midgard. When Yuujin was born to his father as their first son, it was a good omen. Several other siblings followed him, and they grew up peacefully in Rokkaku.

As Yuujin grew up, his relationship with his family was strong and loyal. However, his relationship with his father was distant and at times awkward. While his mother taught him in the ways of Rokkaku society, his father trained him in the way of the ninja. The training program was strict, the father going to any lengths to discipline his son into perfect form. One thing he always wanted to depend on his father for was emotional support. Every night after they worked on Yuujin's skills, they'd share a cup of tea. Yuujin would share his problems with him, but when time came for his own problems with his father's distance with him there was only silence.

They never fixed this problem between them, but Yuujin only accepted this as a part of his life and moved on. Life was generally uneventful for him up until his twenty-fifth birthday, which is when he became married to Nanase Kyuuji. Nanase was a young girl from another prodigious family, the Kyuuji, who frequently marry into the Saitou to keep bloodlines strong.

Their marriage was arranged from the start, but the two got along famously. Only a year later, their first child was born, it was a boy. This incident was one of the few times that Yuujin found himself truly happy, determined to be the father that his own never was.

However, a year later during the attack of the Incantation Samurai, Yuujin took his wife and child to the docks safely and got them onto a boat. Soon after he turned back to help the village. During the chaos and struggle, he was badly injured. Eventually he was taken to Midgard by some rescue teams for medical attention.

His injuries were healed well enough, but a knock to his head caused damage to his eyesight. Yuujin was convinced he'd be lame for the rest of his life, until he was offered glasses, something he was unfamiliar with as they didn't have such things in Rokkaku. Accepting them begrudgingly, he wore them so he could see properly again.

He and his wife were sent to different parts of this new and strange land, and have been separated from each other since. Yuujin currently wanders Midgard, working mercenary jobs for a living, while searching for the location of his wife and child.

After some time, he found her and reunited through the use of the Magijournal system. But sadly, their child had died in the transition. They now currently live in Geffen.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Upon first impression, Yuujin comes off as cold and stoic. This attitude makes people usually not want to bother him or make him annoyed. He is apprehensive of foreign people, which is obviously everyone around him, currently. Deep down inside he can be a caring and loyal man, witty and clever at times as well. Around those he is close to, he has been known to crack a few smiles and loosen up.
